Taking a look into Yangon's most popular dog snacks

When it comes to dog treats, many dog owners are guilty of not reading the ingredients list. So, let us take a look into two of the most popular dog treats in Yangon and compare it to the treats we provide.

First Example

Ingredients:

Beef, chicken meat, wheat flour, glycerine, sugar, tapioca starch, wheat gluten, lecithin, cellulose, fish marine extract, beef flavor, salt, Sodium tripolyphosphate, preservative, Vitamin E, colorant.

Second Example

Ingredients:

Chicken, Whole Wheat, Soy Bean, Butter Milk, Sucrose, Glycerine, Potassium Sorbate, Sodium Chloride, Flavor.

Low cost makes these treats very attractive to dog owners. Other than that, it is hard to see that any of the ingredients carry much benefit to your dog. First, the treat uses glycerine and sugar. Glycerine and sugar is used by many cheaper dog treats manufacturer to make the treats taste better to your dog. However, dogs and sugars dont really match! Dog treats company use glycerine to act as a binder between their ingredients. As a result, they usually use a LOT of them. Do you know what else uses a lot of glycerine? SOAP. So if you see your treats using glycerine and sugar, put it down and look for better treats! They also use articficial flavorings (beef flavor) and preservative. Even though on the packaging, they might advertise as using real beef meat, however, if they added a beef flavoring, that means that the percentage of real beef inside the pack is very little. That is the main reason why they needed to use beef flavorings to add more flavor in the treats. Soy is also a common ingredient as these treats as they add more protein, however, dogs do not need the proteins that come from soy. They also use colorant and preservatives, like glycerine, to make the treats last. However, the use of glycerine also attracts mold. Therefore, even if the treats can last a long time with the use of preservative, chances are it will get moldy after a while. According to Dog Food Advisor, the use of preservatives can also create liver and kidney failure among dogs.

Mingala-Bark Treats

Let us take a look into one of our best treats from Mingala-Bark. This treat is sourced and manufactured in Australia and as you can see from the packaging, it uses a SINGLE INGREDIENT, which is lamb liver. Therefore, all the flavors are natural and contains no fillers, artificial flavorings or even preservatives. Our manufacturer dehydrates these livers using their Nutriseal dehydration process, which uses natural methods to dehydrate the meat and rid it of any moisture. Treats that contain a lot of moisture tends to expire quickly, which is why companies like Jerhigh and Sleeky uses preservatives to have a longer shelf life. Using their patented Nutriseal method, Loyalty Pet Treats were able to dehydrate their meats and provide a healthy and tasty treats for all dogs.

As a dog parent, which would you choose?
